What’s Your Art Process?

A lot of people ask, “Mara, what is your process?” 

Sometimes, art comes to me in colors when I meditate or listen to music.🌈

Sometimes when I close my eyes I see images, designs, or scenes.🌟

I believe art comes from a higher source, an energy asking, “Mara, will you bring me to the physical world? I have a message to share!”

In this instance, I was traveling with only small canvases and a handful of paints. I closed my eyes and words came that had me reaching for a pencil. This painting started out as a message in my sketchbook:

It says: “There’s an angel, and she is surrounded by cosmos energy. She invites light, welcomes transformation and growth out of darkness. A butterfly.

“There is beauty in earthly lights, whites, and layers. She looks down at the light, shadows appear from light. A mandala of light surrounds the butterfly of transformation.”

And this drawing appeared in my sketchbook next to the words.

And it came with colors of pink and purple, white and yellow…

Slowly, her wings started to appear, phases of the moon, and of course the butterfly mandala:

As I painted, she had a very important message.

Wisdom from spirit:

Everything comes in phases (notice the moon phase) and from darkness, the light is revealed. Yet the light casts a shadow - one cannot exist without the other. 

The shadows help us to see the light, appreciate the light, and honor the light. And most importantly - CHOOSE light!

Transformation to bring in the light isn’t always perfect. You need to stop trying so hard! Let the light through, no matter its imperfections, the light is needed. Your light is needed.

You are the light of the world, and we all need you to shine.☀️

Get your message and your light out there, no matter what! 

Don’t wait for it to be perfect, let it shine NOW!
